Our language arts curriculum uses a workshop approach to teach and explore reading, writing, poetry, word study, grammar, and writing mechanics using WW3000, Write Source book and reading comprehension books.

Math & Math Competition

Our math curriculum cultivates a passion for problem solving, improves student’s mathematical ability, a knack for numbers, and the desire to discover from an early age. We use programs like Beast Academy, Singapore Math and AOPS to build the foundation, and help students prepare math competitions like “Math Kangaroo“, “Math league“, “AMC 8 and 10“.

Ustar Science Lab

The Elementary Science Olympiad consists of events from the three broad areas of science education: 1. Science process and thinking skills; 2. Science concepts and knowledge; 3.Science application and technology skills. In this class students get familiar with some Science Olympiad basic concepts through hands-on activities. Children learn some STEM concepts like anatomy, chemistry, physics and engineering.

Ms.Samare

Science/Math/Drama Teacher

Ms. Samare holds a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and has over a decade of experience as a STEM instructor, coach, and science curriculum developer. With a Site Supervisor/Teacher Permit from West Valley College, she is dedicated to fostering problem-solving skills in her students through open-ended questioning. Passionate about unlocking student potential, she earned her Board Cognitive Specialist Certificate from IBCCES. Currently, she serves as the Ustar Manager/STEM Teacher/Science Olympiad Coach at Ustar Cupertino.

Mr. Richard

English / History Teacher

Teacher Richard earned his BA in English Language and Linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University in 2000. He has 10+ years teaching experience, taught English , science, history to students of all ages, from preschool to university to mature adult levels. Richard uses humor to promote a joyful and unselfconscious learning atmosphere. He understands that making mistakes and getting stuck are part of the learning process.

Coach Alec​

Speaking/Debate Teacher

Alec’s background ranges from Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Prototyping, to Technical Instruction and Curriculum Design. He has created car-sized Combat Robots for Comedy Central’s “BattleBots”, fabricated gear for Discovery Channel’s “Prototype This”, and designed test equipment for the Sunpower Corporation and Panasonic. In 2007 Alec changed gears (pun intended), and has since focused entirely on Early Technical Education.

Ms. Nancy

Chinese Teacher

Miss Nancy brings over 13 years of teaching experience, specializing in early childhood education and Chinese language instruction. As a Lead Teacher,  she has taught engaging Chinese programs to preschoolers aged 3–5 and students from kindergarten to 6th grade, focusing on language fundamentals, sentence construction, and essay writing. She collaborates closely with parents and caregivers to support each child’s growth and development holistically.

Miss Nancy is passionate about fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where every student feels empowered to thrive and reach their full potential.

Joe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and has over 10 years of competitive robotics experience, including being key member of Purdue’s Sigbots VEX team that won the 2024 World Championships. With 4 years of teaching experience, he has developed robotics curricula for all skill levels, guiding students in design, programming, CAD, and engineering principles. Passionate about STEM, Joe fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity, helping students—from beginners to advanced competitors

Nathaniel Esquivel is a STEM educator with years of experience teaching mechanical engineering and software engineering to younger students. He uses VEX and LEGO to coach both competitive and recreational robotics teams. Nathaniel continues his passion in college at Mechanical engineery and hopes to use his degree to educate the minds of future engineers.

Coach Michael began by climbing the ranks of a competitive robotics team, leading them to win ‘Best Engineered’ and ‘Best Designed’ awards. With a passion for mechanics and problem-solving, he has experience designing robots from scratch and rebuilding cars. He focuses on gaining more knowledge and studying to enhance his skills for teaching future generations.

Austin is a seasoned software engineer with 7+years of experience, mostrecently at Meta. He brings awealth of technical expertiseand a deep passion forteaching the next generation ofcoders. Austin holds at Masters in Computer Scienceat Georgia Tech.

Coach Chenglin​

Robotics Expert & Mentor​

A passionate and accomplished coach with a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland. Chenglin has over 10 years of hands-on robotics competition experience, including winning the World Champion title at RoboCup Junior 2013 Rescue A competition in Eindhoven, Netherlands. He has a strong background in robot design and programming.

Teacher Raymon

English & Spanish Teacher

Mr. Raymon has been teaching elementary students with a focus on English literacy since 2020. He holds a Bachelor’s in English from California State University, Long Beach and a Master’s in Teaching from University of San Francisco.A diverse athlete, he has competed in basketball, soccer, cycling, track & field, and swimming. Mr. Raymon also helped found and coach his school’s first wrestling team. He believes in personalized, creative, and differentiated learning to help every student discover their own best way to grow and succeed.

Coach Tang

Ping Pong Coach

Coach Tang, a former head coach of the Sichuan Province Men’s Table Tennis Team in China and coach to Olympic champion Chen Longcan, is also a certified U.S. National Table Tennis Coach. During his tenure, his athletes achieved multiple gold medals in various national competitions.

Coach Tang has also served as the head coach for the Malaysian and Thai National Table Tennis Teams, overseeing both men’s and women’s squads.

With extensive coaching experience, Coach Tang is dedicated and professional. He emphasizes teaching precise techniques, agile footwork, and versatile strategies. His expertise includes serving and receiving skills with strong spin, speed, and precise placement, helping students elevate their table tennis performance.

Coach Blake

Tennis Coach

Blake Smith has been passionate about tennis since the age of 4, competing in Northern California and National tournaments through his teenage years. He began coaching in high school, working at a kids’ tennis camp in Palo Alto (2010–2014), and later coached at Mountain View Tennis (2019–2021). Since 2021, he has been a dedicated coach at XYTennis, where he thrives in a supportive community. Blake’s teaching focuses on positivity, simplicity, and fun, tailoring lessons to each student’s goals while maintaining an engaging and challenging environment. He continues to play tournaments, sharpening his skills to provide the best insights for his students. Blake is committed to helping players of all levels improve and enjoy the game.
