FIRST® LEGO®League (FLL) EXPLORE

The FIRST® LEGO® League Explore program introduces young students (ages 6-10) to STEM concepts through hands-on learning, teamwork, and creativity. Guided by coaches, students research real-world problems, design and build LEGO® models, and develop basic coding skills while following FIRST® Core Values.

We will:
  • Guide students through FIRST® LEGO® League Explore challenges, fostering curiosity and teamwork.

  • Provide structured sessions covering research, problem-solving, design, and coding.

  • Encourage students to develop confidence in presenting their ideas.

  • Ensure a fun, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

This Course Will Provide Students with Hands-on Experience in These Four Aspects of FLL Explore:

CORE VALUES – Students will foster teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving while demonstrating respect and collaboration in all activities.

The team will:
  • Apply teamwork and discovery to explore the challenge.

  • Collaborate and share creative ideas while designing their project.

  • Show how their work has an impact and is inclusive.

ROBOT DESIGN – Students will design and build a moving LEGO® model using gears, motors, and structural components to represent their research solution.

The team will:
  • Explore mechanical building techniques with LEGO®.

  • Integrate simple machines, gears, and motors into their designs.

  • Build a stable, interactive model representing their research topic.

ROBOT GAME – Students will develop basic coding skills to program their LEGO® model, making it interactive and capable of completing simple tasks.

The team will:
  • Use LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential or WeDo 2.0 to program their models.

  • Apply coding logic to control movement and interactive features.

  • Test, refine, and improve their programmed functions.

INNOVATION PROJECT – Students will research a real-world challenge, brainstorm creative solutions, and present their ideas using a “Show Me” poster.

The team will:
  • Identify a real-world challenge related to the FLL Explore theme.

  • Brainstorm and design a solution using LEGO® models.

  • Create a “Show Me” poster to illustrate their project journey.

  • Practice presentation and communication skills.
