Public Speaking Enrichment Camp 101 – Let’s Talk in Class!

How does a student develop the self-confidence necessary to make a speech in public or at school? Simple! By spending some time this vacation in the Ustar Public Speaking 101 Camp! You can recognize your own areas of strength and development by discovering the skills necessary to overcome your natural fears of speaking in front of a group by participating in a series of speech activities and drills custom-designed to develop your talents as a dynamic communicator while having fun in our safe and supportive online classroom! Good oral communication is the one skill that teachers agree is the most important academic and social ability students can have in today’s world, and this is the best place and time to discover it!

Week One

Advanced Public Speaking Camp embraces all of the themes in the 101 Enrichment Camp, and takes a deeper dive into verbal and nonverbal communication techniques with Week One focusing on lifelong skills: Opportunities are provided to learn, develop, and practice:

  • Independent learning – students learn techniques to self-evaluate their presentations in public.
  • Effective communication – effective communication is based on a student’s confidence in expressing his or her ideas to an audience and to improvise off-the-cuff.
  • Critical thinking – the ability to create a speech designed for a specific audience, the ability to analyze an audience and its needs.
  • Prose, Poetry, and Drama Interpretation.

While the class is custom designed to meet the needs of the students based on an initial day one pre-assessment, students should have some experience with public speaking to make this experience more meaningful and enjoyable.
