Ustar Science G2 Breakdown
This program includes nine essential categories in G2 science learning. They are: Plants, animals, body+health, weather, Earth+water, solar system, environment, material properties, forces +machines.
Unit 1 Plants
Learning Objectives: what plants need to grow, how they develop and, especially, the mechanisms by which they pollinate and disperse seeds.
Unit 2 Animals
Learning Objectives: how animals live, what they eat, their habitats and adaptations, their anatomy, coverings and classification and their life cycles.
Course structure: 2 units and 18 lessons total
Lesson length: 40 minutes
Students level: Grade K-1
Material: Notebook, pencil, eraser, and listening ears
Unit 3 Body & Health
Learning Objectives: parts of the body, healthy foods and activities, and the human life cycle.
Unit 4 Weather
Learning Objectives: vocabulary related to weather and introduce temperature, changes in weather and weather charting and forecasting.
Unit 5 Earth & Water
Learning Objectives: terminology (names of landforms and bodies of water) as well as concepts (how the Earth is constantly changing, the water cycle).
Unit 6 Solar System
Learning Objectives: the planets, the phases of the moon and space travel.
Unit 7 Environment
Learning Objectives: natural resources, particularly energy and water, and introduce the concepts of renewable resources and conservation of resources.
Unit 8 Material Properties
Learning Objectives: the properties of materials are fundamental to science. These worksheets encourage students to think about familiar materials in a more systematic way.
Unit 9 Forces and Machines
Learning Objectives: examine forces, motion and how simple machines are used in everyday activities.
