My Trip to Chicago

Elizabeth,Age 7

One day, my Dad and I went to Chicago. First we packed our things. Next, we called a taxi to drive us to the airport. At the airport we had to pass through metal detectors and wait for the airplane to arrive. Once we boarded the plane I felt very tired and I fell asleep for 30 minutes. When I woke up it was snack time but I still felt tired, so I just had a Diet Coke. At that moment I heard an announcement that we would be landing in three and a half hours. During that time, Dad and I played games and he taught me some math. When we landed in Chicago, we waited for my Mom at the airport terminal. My Dad bought me some candy and we watched videos on my Dad’s phone. Finally, my Mom arrived. I ran up to her and said, “Mom, where were you? We were waiting for a long time.” Mom answered, “Sorry, I overslept. But I’m so happy to see you now, Elizabeth!” So we all got into her car and drove to her home in Chicago. By that time I was really tired so I took a bath and brushed my teeth and got into my pajamas and went to bed, where I slept soundly.
