3D Printing & Industrial Design

Course Overview

Ustar Robotics’ 3D Printing & Industrial Design program is an exciting, hands-on journey into 3D modeling, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and rapid prototyping. Students will work with industry-standard tools, learn fundamental design and fabrication skills, and complete real-world projects that enhance their creativity and technical understanding. This program blends engineering principles, problem-solving, and hands-on learning to provide a comprehensive STEM experience.

Key Learning Areas

Students will gain experience in multiple engineering disciplines through engaging projects and practical applications:

  • 3D Modeling & Design: Using Fusion 360, students will learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling, from sketching and extruding to refining designs for functional 3D prints.
  • 3D Printing & Prototyping: They will bring their digital designs to life using 3D printing technology, learning about different printing techniques, materials, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering: Students will explore basic circuits and soldering, understanding how electronics integrate with mechanical designs.
  • Aerodynamics & Rocketry: Using RocketCAD, students will simulate rocket launches and analyze performance data before constructing their own working rocket equipped with a parachute recovery system.

Hands-On Projects

The course is structured around exciting projects that allow students to apply their skills:

Build an AirCar – This motorized, air-propelled vehicle introduces students to the fundamentals of aerodynamics, simple circuits, and soldering. By constructing their own AirCar, students will see how thrust, drag, and lift affect movement while practicing hands-on assembly skills.

Design & Launch a Model Rocket – Using RocketCAD simulation software, students will design, test, and refine a model rocket before constructing a real prototype. The final rocket will be launched with a parachute recovery system, demonstrating principles of aerospace engineering, propulsion, and flight dynamics.

3D Print Personalized Creations – From artistic sculptures to functional parts, students will bring their ideas to life through 3D printing. They will explore printing parameters, support structures, and post-processing techniques to ensure high-quality models.

Whether students dream of designing new products, launching rockets, or creating 3D-printed masterpieces, this course provides the tools and knowledge to bring their ideas to life. Join us at Ustar Robotics and start building today!
