USTAR Scholastic Writing Contest PREP Program

This program focuses on the ten writing categories students will compete in.
Program length: 25 lessons Per Session, 1 hour per lesson
Highlight: Sessions can be repeated for students to learn more than one Scholastic writing categories!

Please note: for optimal learning outcomes, we combine teachers’ feedback and students’ personal writing interest to finalize what writing category students will be working on. 

 

L1: Dramatic Script:

Teacher breaks down rubrics of dramatic script and goes over award winning writings. 

Classwork: Teacher prompts students to write several practice dramatic scripts.

Homework: Teacher assigns a type of dramatic script for students to complete.

 

L2: Poetry:

Teacher breaks down rubrics of poetry and goes over award winning writings. 

Classwork: Teacher prompts students to write several practice poetries.

Homework: Teacher assigns a type of poetry for students to complete.

 

L3: short story:

Teacher breaks down the rubrics of short story and goes over award winning writings. 

Classwork: Teacher prompts students to write several short story practice.

Homework: Teacher assigns a type of short story for students to complete.

 

L4: Humor:

Teacher breaks down the rubrics of humor and goes over award winning writings.
