A mixed media piece of art is an artwork that utilizes two or more media in its creation. So, a mixed media artwork can be made if an artist uses acrylic and oil paints in the same piece, or even if they use fragments of photographs and colored pencils.

Anything can be used for mixed media art. Paint, pastels, or non-conventional media such as scrap metal, plastic bottles, or jewelry. Essentially, if it exists, it can be used to make mixed media art.
