Description

Throughout the 15 lessons, we will be writing  a short story / novel / narrative / creative piece of literature. We will take time to address different elements of writing during each lesson. There may also be “short story” activities and SAT grammar practice exercises. Most of these lesson standards are a subset of this objective –

W.9-10.3 -Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences.

Course Breakdown:

Lesson 1: Use digital tools and resources to produce, publish, and update individual or shared writing products in response to ongoing feedback, including new arguments or information. W.11-12.4

Lesson 2:Organize information and ideas around a topic to plan and prepare to write. W.9-10.3

Lesson 3: Engage and orient the reader by establishing a context and point(s) of view and introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally and logically. W.9-10.3

Lesson 13: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking; demonstrate proficiency within the 9-12 grammar continuum.  W.9-10.1

About the teacher:

Mr Ray , 7 years of teaching experience, worked at  local middle school as an English Language Arts Teacher . He taught 6th-12th grade students reading and writing for literature and informational texts. His teaching philosophy is to see to every student’s unique needs and demands. He like to use wide range of formative and summative class activities to closely monitor students’ growth. In 2017-2018, he worked with 22% on-grade-level students at the beginning of the school year. By the end of the year, the End Of Grade Exam data have shown that 64%  of his students have achieved on/above Grade level.
